Kinoscope was founded in 2012 at New School University as part of a series dedicated to screening films by established and emerging filmmakers. Now working independently to praise a broad variety of cinematic works through distribution and exhibition, Kinoscope aims to enhance the appreciation and understanding of film as an art form among diverse audiences.

Pawel Wieszczecinski

Founder, Executive Director, Head of Programming

From producer, critic to finally programmer, Pawel wore many film industry hats for the last 11 years in order to establish a new, mainly devoted to emerging cinematic talent organization based in NYC. Formerly associated with Film Society of Lincoln Center, New Directors/New Films - MoMA, IndieWire and many other international film festival, now fully works at Kinoscope, with occasionally spared time for his own filmmaking. He went to The New School University where he occasionally runs film screenings.

Ela Bittencourt

Editorial Director

A writer, film critic and curator, currently based in São Paulo, Brazil. Her essays and interviews have appeared in publications including Artforum, Cineaste, Film Comment, Frieze and Sight & Sound Magazine. Bittencourt was the curator of the 2015 Neither/Nor retrospective of Polish nonfiction films at the True/False Film Festival, as well as the author of the accompanying monograph,Neither/Nor: Chimeric Cinema, Poland, 1970s-1990s. She also co-curated Stories of Transformation, a Polish film retrospective in Brazil in 2015 and serves on the selection committee for the It’s All True International Documentary Film Festival in São Paulo.
